Maslin Bread
500g Strong Wholemeal Flour
1 sachet fast action dried yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
330ml warm water
Mix the ingredients together. Knead for 10 minutes.
Shape into rolls and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Bake in the oven 220ºC, Gas mark 7 for 12-15 mins.
Freedom Toast
4 Thick slices of
200ml (7 floz) White wine
2 Eggs beaten
1¼ tbsp Sugar
½ tsp Cinnamon
Oil for frying
Powdered sugar
Cinnamon
Cut off bread crusts and cut into quarters.
Place in a deep dish.
Mix eggs with wine, cinnamon, and sugar in a bowl.
Pour over the bread and leave to soak for 3 minutes.
Heat the oil in a frying pan [¼ inch deep].
Drain the bread and carefully slide into the hot oil
Fry until golden brown on both sides.
Drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and ground cinnamon. Serves 4
